Husband and Wife team, Faye and David Penfold manage the crew catering operation ‘The Occasional Kitchen’ and have been successfully providing crew food for a number of years at various festivals and events in the UK.

The Occasional Kitchen are world food specialists based in Frome, Somerset, who curate menus compromising a range of innovative and exciting world food flavours using, where possible, locally sourced and sustainable UK ingredients.

Dave Penfold

Starting his career in the pub trade, Dave has spent the last twenty years working in cookery schools, restaurants, the wedding industry and pop up restaurants. As executive chef, he understands the importance of preparing food for a range of palates and job roles.

He is passionate about locally sourced sustainable food and has been instrumental in hand selecting suppliers across all events to ensure the integrity of quality and ethical farming practices.

Dave loves, in no particular order, food, climbing, playing pool, rum cocktails, DIY projects, teaching children about sustainable food, summer holidays at home on the beach in Barbados and reading.

Faye Penfold

With over 20 years experience in the catering industry, from bars, to fine dining restaurants and catering mass events Faye understands the importance of prompt, friendly and efficient customer service, which always exceeds expectations.

Faye absolutely loves her job, from the very first meeting with a client, right down to rolling up her sleeves in a muddy field to feed hungry crew a delicious home cooked meal.

Faye believes passionately in wealth equality and fair pay, under her guidance the business has adopted Living Wage as standard and offers profit share to all full time employees of the business.

Faye loves, in no particular order; food, writing, planning, poetry, nice wine, adventures with her son, hot summer evenings chatting by the fire as the sun goes down, music, belly laughs, heavy rain and wild swimming.
